How are y’all feeling about this? Gatsby, DiCaprio, Mulligan, Luhrmann? Let’s hear it.

I’m not sure what I think about this yet.  For one, I believe I’m going to have to suspend all comparisons to the original novel.  Like Bunuel’s Spanish adaptation of Wuthering Heights set in Mexico, I believe this movie will be in the spirit of Fitzgerald’s great work rather than following it to the letter.

I’ve never been a fan to Macguire in this movie.  Nick is one of my favorite characters.  I relate to his position as an outsider looking in and I don’t think Tobey can do the job.  And I think it’s ridiculous that they are doing this in 3D.  It’s going to cost more and I don’t know that it’ll add anything to the experience.

But, I will still shell out the money and journey back to the Roaring 20’s for Christmas 2012.
